Deron T. McElroy

Deron McElroy is Chief of Operations- Western United States for the DHS Cybersecurity Advisor Program. He is focused on building partnerships to enhance our Nation's cyber resilience. Deron is available to help organizations navigate and access the Critical Infrastructure Cyber Community (C³) Voluntary Program and NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Previously, he served as the first DHS Cybersecurity Advisor stationed West of the Mississippi, and as Senior Strategist for the DHS Office of Cybersecurity and Communications (CS&C). As Senior Strategist, Deron led the development of the Nation’s cyber incident response policy, playing a key role in the stand-up of the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center and participating in information sharing policy development.
Prior to joining DHS, Deron worked as Staff Director for the House Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Intelligence, as a Senior Professional Staff Member focused on cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and information sharing and as a legislative aide to several Members of Congress. Deron is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and is based out of Los Angeles, California.
